What does the future hold?

Well, we’re not Mystic Meg so we can’t tell you that, but what we can say is that when it comes to ‘new year, new start’ and to any resolutions you might have, less is most definitely more.

Resolutions are a weird one aren’t they? We’ve already seen a mixed bag of perspectives and extremes on social media in the past few days… from whole lists of things to be achieved (ideally within a month or so), to the gentle ridiculing of people who make any resolutions at all. Now that’s an interesting way of communicating and inspiring people!

Here at Shake, we say “resolution away” but keep it focused and achievable. In fact, that’s the exact conversation we had in a client mentoring session just this morning. One resolution worked towards with energy and commitment, is better than ten discarded remnants before Blue Monday slaps us in the face! And, if we’re all honest with ourselves, putting sustained effort into one meaningful goal means you’ll be left with the genuine possibility of success. Imagine that? ;)

The process of narrowing down the things that matter and working through what you really want to make happen is also a positive one, and means you’re more likely to be realistic with the time you have available too.

A wise woman (a client and friend of ours) once said,

"If you do what you’ve always done you’ll get the same outcome, so to get a different outcome you have to do something different"

and we wholeheartedly embrace this.

You can do things differently at any time at all of course, but we welcome the shift in mindset and the optimism that’s somewhere within all of us (to varying degrees) at this particular time of year… and we say, grab hold of it. Harness it. Decide what your ‘one resolution to rule them all’ is going to be and the chances are that by this time next year, you’ll be looking back on it with a big smile on your face.
